Bagi saya, film Flowers in the Attic buatan tahun 1987 memanjakan mata dengan keindahan rumah yang menjadi latar. Rumah itu sangat istimewa. Acting para pemainnya sudah bagus kalau dilihat dari tahun pembuatan. Tahun 1987... ya gitu, deh. Tapi tetap layak tonton. Penggarapannya sangat mau mengkritik, mungkin tentang loteng atau attic yang menjadi tempat tinggal 4C bersaudara. Saat awal masuk, ruangan itu benar-benar gudang dengan banyak benda besar maupun kecil. Ada juga patung-patung. Memang tidak diulas apa pekerjaan ayah Corinne dan mengapa mereka sedemikian kaya raya. Yang jelas aneh saja ketika ruangan tersebut menjadi cukup rapi untuk ukuran kamar sementara. Sangat jauh berbeda dengan film tentang penyekapan yang menjadi the best movie pada tahun 2015 berjudul The versi ini memiliki ending yang dimodifikasi sendiri sehingga menjadi semacam dead end. Diceritakan tentang cara Chriss, Cathy dan Carry keluar dari rumah setelah mengacaukan proses pemberkatan pernikahan ibunya dengan Barth.
